“Light as Medium” - Art installation by Polina Dobrotina

Light in itself is phenomenal, isn’t it? If there was no light, would we be able to see?… Or Would it mean that everything stops to exist?....what is nothing and what is everything?... Is light only a medium? - there is only one way to find out… play!

Our Wonderful Culture presents unique Art Installation by an award-winning colour artist Polina Dobrotina known for using her artistic visual language by integrating space, light and colour into a meaningful story where the viewer’s imagination acts as the main storyteller.

The installation combines traditional and contemporary mediums ranging from oil paintings to moving light figures. The visitors will enjoy an immersive experience which will take them somewhere beyond their usual reality to the energising wonderland of colour and light.

From the artist:

Creating this space was a real opportunity that came right before Christmas. All space colouring done on site by myself within 5 days, even the UV artworks on plastic which remind of the creatures of the Universe. The installation is filled with hidden meaningful spots which uncover other dimensions and extend the reality further through the tunnels.

About artist:

Polina Dobrotina is an award-winning contemporary impressionist and abstract artist. Whilst her technique is futuristic and expressive, it’s relatable to our reality. She’s able to take any material and take it somewhere beyond into a dream-like state of colour, shade, light and texture, allowing enough room for the observer to decide and own what they see and how it makes them feel. – There is an air of magic that brings hope and colour that everybody needs to see.

Originally from Russia, Polina studied Impressionism and Academic Painting,  Drawing and Art Theory at the University of Rouen in Normandy, France. The birthplace of impressionism had a profound impact on her perception of colour and light. She explored the works of Monet, Degas and Sisley, who influenced the forming of her own creative language.

Taking inspiration from the vibrant beauty of nature, Polina’s is on the edge of abstract compositions where the light, colour and texture play a leading role.

Polina Dobrotina is an exhibited and award-winning emerging artist. She was awarded the first prize at the Genesis Art Competition 2019 and the Live Drawing Competition at Art Number 23. She was shortlisted and participated in the DContemporary Painting Prize 2019, Mayfair London and Royal Arts Prize 2020 at the Royal Opera Arcade, London.

She has participated in a number of group shows in the UK, US, Russia, Slovakia and Mexico and held her first solo show in the Red Gallery in London 2019. Her artworks are held in galleries, corporate offices and private collections in London and overseas.
